Model 422PP9TB is powered from the RS-232 handshake lines DTR and RTS, regardless of whether these lines are high or low. No handshake control is necessary to operate the unit and the RS-422 driver and receiver are both always enabled.

No power supply required
Convert RS-232 TD and RD signals to RS-422, allowing range to be increased
from the 50 feet specified in the RS-232 standard to 4,000 feet at data speeds
up to 115.2 kbps. No handshake driver control is required as the RS-422
driver and receiver are always enabled.
These port powered models require no external power supply, drawing power
from the RS-232 handshake lines. If no handshake lines are available, choose
Model 422PP9TB or 422LPCOR and connect a 12 VDC power supply to the
terminal block.
